What is DropletSign?
DropletSign is Droplet's electronic-signature product. It takes a PDF you already have, lets you place signature and form fields on it, and collects legally binding e-signatures from the people you send it to.

Throughout the app and these guides you will see this feature called eSign (the tab in your left navigation). "DropletSign" is the product name; "eSign" is what you use day to day. They are the same thing.
What DropletSign does
DropletSign is built around documents you already have, like contracts, policies, agreements, and consent forms. The flow is always the same:
- Upload a PDF and turn it into a reusable eSign document.
- Add signers and place the fields each one needs to fill in or sign.
- Send it, and each signer gets an email link to complete their part online.
- Track and finish, then download the completed PDF with every signature applied.
The full walkthrough lives in Create and send a document for signature.
DropletSign vs Droplet Forms
Droplet has two products that are easy to mix up. The short version: Droplet Forms builds new digital forms and workflows, while DropletSign collects signatures on documents you already have.
| Droplet Forms | DropletSign (eSign) | |
|---|---|---|
| Start from | A blank form you build in the drag-and-drop builder | A finished PDF you upload |
| Best for | Collecting data, requests, and approvals through a multi-step workflow | Getting an existing document legally signed |
| The output | A submission with structured data that moves through your workflow | A signed PDF, identical to the original plus the signatures |
| Where it lives | The Forms tab | The eSign tab |
They can work together (for example, a workflow that ends by sending a document for signature), but they are purchased and used separately.
Do you have DropletSign?
Because it is a separate product, having Droplet Forms does not automatically grant eSign, and a teammate who can build forms will not necessarily see eSign unless your organization has it. To add DropletSign, contact your Droplet account team.
How signing works
Once you send an eSign document, each signer receives an email with a secure link. They open the document in their browser, fill in any fields assigned to them, draw or type their signature, and submit. Droplet records who signed, and when, and stamps the signatures into the PDF. If you set an order, each signer is invited in turn; if you do not, everyone is invited at once.
Where to go next
- Create and send a document for signature › the end-to-end flow.
- eSign fields and display rules › every field type, plus opacity and conditional display.
- eSign reminders and tracking › nudge signers and follow each document to completion.
- eSign Bulk Send › send one document to many recipients at once.
FAQ
Is DropletSign included with Droplet Forms?
No. DropletSign is a separate product that is purchased on its own. Many Droplet Forms customers do not have it. If your left navigation has no eSign tab, your organization has not added DropletSign.
How do I know if my organization has DropletSign?
Look for the eSign tab in the left navigation. If it is there, you have it. If not, reach out to your Droplet account team to add it.
Can I send a Droplet Form for signature instead?
Droplet Forms can collect a signature component as part of a form, but DropletSign is purpose-built for signing an existing PDF document and returning that same document, signed. If your goal is a signed copy of a contract or policy you already have, use eSign.
Are DropletSign signatures legally binding?
Yes. DropletSign captures legally binding electronic signatures along with a timestamped audit trail recording who completed the document and when.
