How do I use the File Upload Component?

The File Upload Component allows users to upload files directly within your form, which will stay attached to the form submission. These files can be viewed and downloaded by others in the approval workflow if you grant them access to this component in the submission visibility settings.

When should I use a File Upload Component?

This component is ideal for scenarios where users need to provide supporting documentation. Common use cases include:

Applications
Collect resumes, portfolios, or supplemental forms.
Submissions
Gather supporting documents like permission slips, receipts, or reports.

Features & Configuration

Adding a File Upload component to your form is easy. Simply select the File Upload option from the component library and drag it onto the canvas.


After placing the component, you can customize its properties in the right-hand panel:

Properties

Label
Use this to describe what the user should upload (e.g., “Upload your resume”).
Width
Adjust the width of the component (1-12 columns) based on your form layout.
Required
Set the component as mandatory, so users must upload a file to proceed.
Text
Customize the message inside the upload area (e.g., “Drag and drop your file here”).
Max File Size
Set a limit on file size (up to 60MB).
File Types
Specify the acceptable file types (e.g., .pdf, .docx). Enter them comma-separated in the properties panel.
Secure
Toggle this to ensure the uploaded files are secure and not publicly accessible.
Multiple Files
Enable this to allow users to upload more than one file.

Logic

Display Logic
Control when this component shows or hides based on other inputs.
Validate Logic
Set specific conditions to validate the user’s uploads, ensuring it meets your criteria.

Details

Hint
Hints are short pieces of text that appear beneath the options to provide extra clarity.
Tooltip
Tooltips are helpful text that users can see when they hover over the question mark icon next to the component.
Name
You can change the Name field to a more descriptive identifier that will appear in your CSV exports.
ID
Each Droplet component has a unique ID for referencing in workflows or visibility settings. Edit the default ID to make it more descriptive.
