How do I use Bulk Submit?

Bulk Submit is perfect for sending multiple submissions at once, saving you time when dealing with large numbers of forms — like teacher contracts or student consent forms. You can upload up to 500 submissions at a time using a spreadsheet.

Step-by-Step Process

500 Submission Limit
If you need to upload more than 500 submissions, you’ll need to divide them into batches of 500 or fewer and upload each batch.

Here’s a four-part process to guide you through using this really powerful feature of Droplet:

1

Ensure the Form is Set Up for Bulk Submit

If this is your first time using Bulk Submit with this form, or if you have made edits to the form since using Bulk Submit, you will want to double-check the first workflow step of your form to make sure it can be used for Bulk Submit.

There are a few rules.  The first step must adhere to these:

No Signatures
No File Uploads
No Global Datasets
Avoid Using Tables
If possible

Once these conditions are met, you’re ready to move on!

2

Open the Bulk Submit Assistant

A

Go to the Forms page and locate the form you want to bulk-submit.

B

Make sure the form has a green Enabled status.

C

Click the three-dot menu next to the form and select Bulk Submit from the options.

If your form isn’t properly set-up for Bulk Submit, a window will appear explaining what you need to change first. Handy!
3

Download and Complete the Template

A

In the Bulk Submit Assistant, click the blue Download Template button. This provides you with a spreadsheet that mirrors the fields in the first step of your form.

B

Open the spreadsheet in Google Sheets or Excel. For each submission, fill out a row with the required information.

Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
Hover over any column header for specific formatting requirements.
If the form uses dropdowns or checkboxes, valid options will be shown when you hover over the relevant column header.
Pro Tip!
For fields that require Date or Time, set the cell format to Plain Text to avoid spreadsheet formatting issues. Use the format YYYY-MM-DD for dates and YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm for dates with time.
4

Upload the Template and Check for Errors

A

After completing your template, return to the Droplet Bulk Submit Assistant.  You can select Skip to jump right to the Upload Spreadsheet step.

B

Click the Upload Spreadsheet button and select your file. The system will check for any validation errors.

Errors Found?
If there are issues, you’ll be prompted to download a new spreadsheet that highlights problematic cells in red. Hover over these cells to see the error message, correct the issues, and re-upload the file.
No Errors Found?
If there are no errors, the assistant will tell you how many submissions will be created. Double-check that the number matches your expectations before proceeding.
C

Click Submit All to finalize your submissions. Each row in your spreadsheet will be processed as an individual submission and moved to the next step in the form’s workflow.

At this point, all submissions created using Bulk Submit will appear on your All Submissions page.
